Hey it’s Derek with Derek Grown Man Style!

So I've been slowly trying to build this style brand since September and I figured it's time I start blogging outside of the social media outlets. So what better way to start this blogging journey than to explain my IG name @derekgrownmanstyle.

So what’s up with that name anyway? I’m father to two teenage girls and they frequently berate me with questions like, “Why you all dressed up all the time?” or “Don’t you wanna just put on some joggers?” Those questions make my laugh but they also make me realize that I don’t even own a pair of joggers, or a sweatshirt for that matter.

Dressing down is fine and I know plenty of people who make joggers and a hoodie their go-to getup for daily wear. That’s all fine and good but I feel like I had my teen years to rock the ultra comfy trappings of jersey kit clothing. I’m well grown and it’s time to dress like it not just with the basic and boring, “let me just cover my nakedness” style choices. I made a decision some time ago to present the very best of me every time I walk out of the door. Whether anyone else notices or not is irrelevant (but they do notice). The important thing is that I am creating a personal brand and reputation of sharp, stylish appearance.

My base desire though is to do an above average job of styling my looks to set a favorable first impression with anyone I come in contact with. That after all should be a desire of every grown man. Long gone are the, "I don't care what anybody thinks" and "Imma do me" days. Grown men represent themselves well to the general public and carry themselves with respect and self-confidence.

I just happen to LOVE going the extra mile in how I present myself and raising my appearance a step above the norm....because it's just fun to style....in grown man style!
