Style | Beckett Simonon Review | Norman Cap Toe Derby
Hey it’s Derek with Derek Grown Man Style!
I was slow to get to this point but I am now a firm believer that the easiest and more effective way for a man to immediately elevate his style is to invest in a pair of tan dress shoes. It took me a while to graduate from my very plain shoe palette of dark brown or black, but once I experienced my first pair of tan dress shoes I was sold and couldn't get enough of them.
And then I received a pair of Beckett Simonon Norman Cap Toe Derbies in their gorgeous tan finish and I was a fan for life. All tan finishes are not created equal and that's part of the beauty of the spectrum of brown colors. There's just something about the Beckett Simonon tan that's absolutely magical.
Instead of trying to describe it in a lot of flowy, poetic words, I thought I'd share my unboxing of these gems with you so you can see the beauty of these shoes up close.
Own any pair of Beckett Simonon shoes or boots and you're guaranteed to be impressed from the outside all the way to your feet. Every shoe comes in a beautiful box adorned with an impressive patterned lining. Your shoes are masterfully made and deserve to be cherished and protected....and they are done so with two shoe bags with drawstrings.
Beckett Simonon thinks ahead by including spare laces and even a pair replacement insoles.
The craftsmanship of these shoes is apparent at first glance. I'm by no means a shoe expert so my initial inspection was probably light by a pro's standard, but I can assure you not one blemished existed and even my novice eyes could tell that these were a pair of high end dress shoes.
I spent so many years wearing shoes with synthetic materials and recently as I've been able to elevate my shoe choices to higher quality leather uppers and linings I now can't imagine letting anything less adorn my feet.
Some interesting facts about Beckett Simonon that make this company a standout among online shoe manufacturers.
The uppers and linings are made of Argentinian full grain leather
Hand-made one at a time.
Resoleable Blake construction.
Sturdy and resoleable leather soles
Extra durable leather heel stacks.
Rubber heel caps for better traction.
Waxed cotton laces.
Dust bags included - one for each shoe which I think is a big deal. I don’t want my beautiful shoes rubbing against each other as they’re resting in the box.
They are a Make To Order Shoe Company - It takes approximately 8-10 weeks to make and ship a pair of shoes - from the sourcing of the leather, the cutting and tanning price to the actual construction of the shoes - it is a meticulous process. Think you can’t wait that long for something this good? Trust me you can and you won’t regret it. The great news is that they send you updates along the way to keep the excitement and anticipation up throughout the entire process.
They offer great deals on their shoes throughout the month. You can save 20% on your first pair by using discount code DJSTYLE20. Click on the link below to shop and be sure to tag me on Instagram @derekgrownmanstyle when you post a pic of your new BS shoes.
